Independent Audio System Design – Neutral, Vendor‑Agnostic, Client‑Focused
Overview
I operate as an independent audio consultant and system designer based in Kelowna, BC. My work focuses on creating reliable, scalable sound systems supported by professional installation, tuning, and long‑term operational stability. I am not affiliated with any single retailer, which allows all recommendations to be based solely on technical requirements and client objectives.
My background includes work as a technical specialist in complex engineering systems, front‑of‑house engineer, monitor engineer, audio repair technician, and large‑system technician for internationally touring artists. This experience ensures that every system I design is grounded in real‑world performance requirements, operational reliability, and the practical needs of musicians, staff, and venues.
Clients may purchase equipment from any supplier they choose. I maintain working relationships with multiple reputable retailers throughout the Okanagan, ensuring fair pricing, flexible options, and unbiased system design.

2. System Design
System design defines the technical architecture of the installation. With a career background in engineering design, engineering safety management, and professional touring audio, all design decisions are grounded in appropriate standards, safe practices, and alignment with the intended system performance.
Small Systems (1–2 zones, simple PA)
$300–$600
Includes gear list, signal flow, output assignments, and basic tuning plan.
Medium Systems (restaurants, bars, multi‑zone, DSP‑based)

4. Project Management (Optional)
As a Project Management Institute – Certified Associate in Project Management (PMI‑CAPM), with over 20 years of project management experience on high‑value, nationally significant projects, I can coordinate all aspects of system delivery, including retailers, electricians, contractors, and venue staff.
10–15% of equipment cost, or
Flat $300–$800, depending on project size
This is a service fee, not a retail commission.
5. Vendor Neutrality
To maintain fairness and transparency:
I do not sell equipment directly.
I do not steer clients toward any specific retailer.
Clients may purchase from any shop they choose.
All gear lists are vendor‑agnostic and based strictly on technical requirements.
Retailers may offer referral credits at their discretion, but these do not influence system design or vendor recommendations.
6. Purpose of This Structure
This framework ensures:
Unbiased system design
Transparent and predictable pricing
Freedom of choice for clients
Healthy relationships with multiple suppliers
Professional separation between design and retail
My goal is to deliver systems that are reliable, scalable, and tailored to each client’s needs—without the pressure or limitations of retail sales.
